Matt, we should get together in the upcoming weeks to discuss some of the details. So far it's Ali, Yassar, Ryan Cherry, Matt Tremblay and myself.

Giz, Andrew, and the Ottawa guys.
We could all meet up at the 401 stop between Brigton and Trenton to head down to TO as a group. If anyone from Kingston area is coming, be a good place to meet up. Just an idea....

The "old guy" caravan will be leaving Friday. Some of us are from the GTA area.
Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

The meeting places we normally have are: HWY #10 (Hurontario) and 403 (plaza just north of the 403) The next stop is at the Tim Horton's/Home Depot at Hwy 20 in Stoney Creek (Just off the QEW) Then its straight off to NY, where we stop for lunch at the McDonald's/Denny's in N.Y. State. From there it's non-stop to Ohio, and the Gull/Buschur's place. Dinner is at Stirk's in Norwalk. Just remember the words "bacon gravy" Then BEER till the early morning hours!

Stirks is part of the history, DSM.CA has been going there for years, we have gone as far as to get bacon gravy and bring it back for members that have not been able to make the trip that year, (even if they drop the container in thier driveway). Went through Detroit the first year (didn't caravan down) and man never again, crappy roads and driving through blocks of ghetto areas wasn't confidence inspiring. What about the Mexi restraunt though...

HEY! I saved 80% of that bacon gravy I dropped!!
"Screw Stirks"?!?!
Noob.
The mileage difference between Niagara/Detroit really isn't that big. Besides, living where I do makes me REALLY biased towards crossing at Niagara.

Where did you get that from??
"Do I need a passport to travel to the United States? Though passports are the document of choice for travel, Canadian citizens do not currently require a passport to travel to the United States. However, Canadians who are travelling outside Canada are encouraged to obtain a passport, as it is the most widely accepted proof of Canadian identity and citizenship.
In April 2005, the United States Government announced the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requiring all visitors to and from the Americas, including Canadian citizens, to present a passport to enter or re-enter the United States by December 31, 2007.
The WHTI will be implemented in three phases, as follows:
December 31, 2006 - A passport will be required for all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. December 31, 2007 - The passport requirement will be extended to all land border crossings as well as air and sea travel."

Well, there's talk of Ian and Brian staying in the room next door, so maybe you can pull senoirity on Brian, and put him in the cot. I'm getting a lot of emails this year, kind of unusual for so early. Is it going to be a big year? Sterks is the spot. Where do you think they get the 11 second grease from at Buschur's!

Ziggy - re route, yes it's almost the exact same distance, down to the last km... but, in addition to detroit, somehow the NY state thruway just seems to run quicker. No idea why. Streets & Trips, sort of backs that up. The detroit route is 10km shorter, but the NY/Ohio route, is 20 mins faster. Now, what USED to be real fun, was the ferry ride from Leamington to Sandusky, via Pelee Island. That was fun... bit of a hassle, but fun.

Was thinking about taking the ferry lsat year, was going to cost way too much so we drove. Just checked the distances from London, it's about 150 miles further for us to go through Fort Erie/NY and around. Looks like Detroit again it is.

Yeah, from London, it's a no-brainer. From Hamilton, where the 403 splits, is where I measured it from. No worries... we'll see you all there... with lots of cold beer.

Hi folks,
A few weeks ago, I made an offer to Andrew Bienhaus to be the official Club DSM Canada videographer for the Shootout 2006 event. The plan is to shoot footage of the entire event, including the caravan from the GTA to Ohio, edit and render DVD's for resale to club members with all proceeds from the DVD's to be donated back to the club in order help with all of the admin costs associated with this website & UBB.
About the DVD: It will be professional grade, captured with dual Sony 3CCD videocams and rendered with a non-linear digital suite.
I would like to start by gauging the interest level of such a DVD. I'm also open to hearing any suggestions or recommendations on what you would like to see. This is your event, your video. Your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't care at all about the proceeds angle, but it's always fun to go back and look at bits of the event, months later... particularly when something cool happens. Jason: make sure you don't lose too much time on it though, I mean, make sure you still have fun.

At $15 - $20. for even 30 minutes of good footage, I am in for one copy Another thought, Jason..perhaps you could supplement your income by videoing some of the actual runs for individuals....

Sign me up for one. I recall there being videos made of some previous shootouts. I never bought a copy, and regretted it. Especially when we were watching the old ones a couple years ago. It's almost like looking back through my H.S. yearbooks.
