So I have a couple cars in mind for a switch (keeping 2gs, but wouldn't mind a turn-key heated recaro seat evo with stock spiffy speeds). Thing is, my insurance company quoted me quite a high amount just to add the car to the policy. I pay 2700 for the 2g a year (high already I know, blame Brampton), would be another 4100 to add the Evo X. Granted, I'm in Brampton (THE worse place to insure a car), but damn! If I was to add another 2g it's just another 20$ a month.
I know a couple evo owners in Brampton where this is very true. Is this a general thing with EvoXs? Seems to be in a bad bracket from an insurance/claims stand-point.

Driving record is good so that's not the issue. Not one speeding ticket. When I talked to them, they told me the car itself is in a bad bracket, in Brampton at least. Mind you that quote was with the sportback on top of all this.
I'll try getting quotes with other addresses. Buddy of mine has the same issue (6000ish a year for his evo X, 1 speeding tick). Ajax is also a big drop insurance wise in comparison to Brampton, I knew that before (more so in Belleville)

Evo X full Grand Touring Coverage with full replacement value if the car was written off How long does that last for? and how did you get it? We had this on our brand new sante fe but it only lasted the first year.

We had this on our brand new sante fe but it only lasted the first year. In my experience you can have it as long as you want (I'm with The Personal) but the cost goes up more and more the older the car gets, so it's really not worth it after maybe the 2nd or 3rd year, depending on the vehicle. Also, these insurance rates for the Evos are nuts. I have 4 cars on my policy in Richmond Hill, 2 of which are worth as much or more than almost any Evo X out there and then 2 DSMs, along with 3 primary drivers and we're still only at around 6k/year. And if it were just me on the policy with the 4 cars it would be less than half of that.... 3 of the cars have full coverage and 1 (my Laser) has just liability. No comprehensive or collision.

That is correct, the cost keeps going up every year, I still have it on my 2014 Evo X and 2016 Ram 1500 Sport. Considering I paid about $58k for each of these vehicles, it's a no brainer for the extra couple bucks a month. I'm paying about $90/month for the truck, oddly enough my wife's Outlander cost the most at about $160/month. Living in Ajax makes a huge difference, I fall into the Orangeville/Newmarket/Durham region. I have been with TD Meloche Monnex for as long as I can remember.
