Yup, all fine and dandy here, zero problems with the car, just the driver was pretty beat after the 13 hour drive Sunday night/Monday morning lol. My bad Jay better to find out by me telling you than it falling off on the track. Nice to finally meet you Ziggy, bought a many parts off you in the past and it was nice to put a face to my dealer lol. I ran a couple test & tune passes, managed a best of 11.8 @ 124, combination of nerves and being up for over 36 hours straight didn't help my consciousness on the launch. Now that the shootout is over, it will be all out at the track to nail off that elusive 10 second pass. I'll have my pics up in the coming days, nice seeing everyone and see you all again next year. Oh and Mike Lane, thanks for letting me pop your SO cherry

Another one down for me as well. I made it home in record timing. Left by myself at 11:30pm and made it home at 3:30am. I may actually do that next year too! I competed in the max effort DSM. I did alright with a best circuit time of 85 seconds. The winner in the Galant knocked off a 75 second pass(no idea how I'd ever get my car to go that fast) The Drag passes I was yet again unprepared for, boost control on the compounds is still out of whack.(surprise surprise) Knocked off a best 12.8s at 26psi with a weak 2.0 60ft. Then raised the boost and went slower... lol Had fun as usual, and was super rewarding beating on a 25year old car in the heat for 6hours of autocross and back to back drag passes, then driving it home. Getting 27+mpg See you all next year.

The big problem with max effort is that it's pretty easily won by a car properly set up to turn as it's a lot easier to gain a few seconds advantage on an autocross/road course than on a drag strip. Most of the cars running faster than mid-10's are not going to do well on an AutoX course whereas any DSM setup to turn can easily be made to run 11's without any compromises.
That being said, it also depends on the AutoX track layout as when they make faster (read: straighter) courses it's typically much closer.
As for me, I am sad I didn't make it out this year but I had a great time at the Dream Cruise and my parents did as well, so no regrets. Definitely plan to be back out in Ohio for the Shootout next year, especially since it's the big 2-5!
Glad to hear everyone had a good time and made it home in more or less one piece.

Agreed, they should multiply the drag pass times or something... I was talking to the galant guy. Asked what kind of suspension setup he was running. he said it was all custom, "special length this, machined plate that, custom valved yadda yadda" I could have ran an 8 second drag pass, but my average autocross time still wouldn't have let me win... Ohwell next year...

I am not going to say they should be wiped off the face of the earth, but I DO think they should get their OWN shootout, and leave the DSM shootout for MITSUBISHI engined cars, as it was before!!
If we wanted to watch GTR's race, we could probably go to any one of many drag race events. I go to Ohio for the DSM shootout!

Our local tracks will let pretty much anything slide, such as 10's without a cage. Hell, they only require helmets at 11.99
Looks like golf cart rentals are no more after that guy split his head open after falling off one Sunday.
Give it time, Buscher is very hot headed and as things cool down, the new "official" rules will be more concrete.

We have, it was called the invasion and was just a one day thing. I haven't had my car running so I haven't organized it like I usually do. I think between myself and Devon(he seems to be the organizer these days) we could arrange the invasion for next year, I know that cayuga is our usual but if people want to do another track maybe we can figure that out, but would also want to figure out a cool route as that was one of the great things about heading through the Hammer.

So here's a stupid question! Why haven't we as a DSM community every tried to set up our own "shootout" event? Has it been tried before, is it the tracks that suck? I mean, I don't think it's impossible and I'm sure we have enough networks especially with Reza and RTM being connected with so many tuner people. Just asking so if you've heard this before then bite me We had our "own" event, DSM's are a dying breed and there isn't the drive, nor the funds for them to do it on their own. If you haven't been to The Shootout, there is NOTHING else that compares, it's not a simple little meet with a few races. It's an event that's taken 24 years to get where it's at. Inviting the Evos years ago and GTRs now are quite simply financial aspects, it can't survive on DSMs alone. The rental cost of a track like that are huge. If there's one thing DSMers are, its cheap, and that doesn't go well with large events. We can't even get 20 DSMs to show up with months of planning for a BBQ, good luck trying to replace the Shootout.

Not to say it has to be just DSM's though. A few weeks ago I saw about 30-40 Subbies getting off on Mavis and 401 to go to a meet at the Subaru Head office. I agree it's not like 24 years of history but maybe it might bite. Cheers
