mmcd is go to for most noobs, most of us started there. It's great just need to find an old palm

My money is on knock, sounds like your timing being pulled but we will know for sure once you log. Boost is stock? have a boost gauge?

If you have a code reader that has a data stream seeing as your car is a 99 you should be able to see what your timing is doing without having to buy a palm or any other software.

Does it have live data on the reader or is it just a code reader?

Assuming you check engine light isn't on, wouldn't the light turn on when knock is happening? I know mine does, but I have link.

Should he maybe stick with putting just 94 in the tank for a bit?

Devo, when you hit throttle does it sputter OR just have no power until it eventually hits?

The CELL coming on for knock is a nifty Link feature (I'm sure other aftermarket ECUs for the DSM can recreate that feature as well in some way) but definitely not a stock feature.

If it actually feels like its dropped to 2 cylinders, it could be the transistor pack.

Mine would randomally frack off under boost back in the day.

Stock.

You would think it would fire off misfire codes if it was a coil or 2 dropping out.....although I did have a Galant with a bad coil that took weeks of driving it to set a code

I had similar problem on my 1G. On start up the car was fine and then if I went somewhere and turned the car of and then fired it back up, it would sound like it was running on 1-2 cylinders. Ended up being my power transistor.
Good luck.

If you can, relocate it to the firewall. Less heat and vibration. >.< I had mine go.

2g's dont run a CAS like 1g do. They run a seperate cam sensor and crank sensor. I thought.....
