I agree 240 is better. I was asuming he was learning to weld.
My Lincoln 140 has never seen 240v but I have never needed it for anything I have welded on car. Plus it makes it more transport friendly not everyone has a 240 outlet on hand.

You can make your own extension cheaper than you can buy one, Home Depot has all the stuff you'd need.
Not entirely. I bought the receptacles there. They didn't carry the right 10/3 cable. Nor did they carry the right dual wall shrink tube. I ended up sourcing everything from 3 different places. Lowes, THD, and an Electrical specialty store local to me.
Total cost was roughly $80 all in.

So the new tanks double the quantity with higher pressures and nearly same size as current. They want to give me 75$ credit for the tank. Meh. I'd rather pay the full 300$ For the larger tank and keep my two 9s for aluminum. New tanks have built in regulator.
Checked Home Depot, they only have male end, not female end of extension for this plug type. Can I see pics of your home made extensions? Thanks!
Meh, it's pretty typical for most home improvement places to vary from store to store, sometimes they have something, the next time they don't. When did mine they did happen to have both ends. I used the end of a roll of dryer cord, they sold it at a very discounted price because no contractor would buy something like that. Always ask if they have any leftovers bit, think I paid like $15 for about 12'.
Going to resurrect this thread cause I have been welding lots and have a big project ahead of me.
I need to tee weld some 1/2" pieces of metal together with my 140 mig welder. I am leaning toward picking up .35 or whatever the thickest flux wire I can fit in my machine and see how that goes. I will be rooting and pre heating the piece so I am hoping I can get some really good penetration, this is going to be structural so I need to make sure it sticks well.
