Hey guys! Please share your knowledge and opinion on these great engines designed by our beloved Mitsu Engineers Lets not turn that into 6 vs 7 bolt war please 4B11T Left, 4G63 Right Some of the major differences found in 4B11T - die-cast aluminum cylinder block with cast sleeves - balance shafts eliminated - four bolts per each crank cap instead of 2) - Semi-Closed Deck instead of Closed deck in 4G63 - MiVec on both intake and exhaust - Stronger rods & crankshaft - Better oiling/cooling system - 27 pounds lighter More info: http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0806_turp_tomei_4b11_technical_report/viewall.htmlPost your thoughts here:

Just read a thread that popped up on tuners a couple minutes ago. Seems interesting.
Unless your engine is dead though, I don't see the push to do it. Aren't most evo parts, engine components specifically, more expensive than normal DSM ones? I know their turbos are pretty cheap (OEM) but other than that.
That and your car would need insurance as a hotrod. Which, here at least, isn't easy as before. In Cali, moreso with the stringent laws.

I really like our 4G63 but the 4B11T is a very nice evolution (no punt intended).
Semi Close Deck could prove interesting but these Engines are proving themselves every day.

Both motors can handle 600 to 700 HP in stock form. 4B11 does not have any head gasket issues at these power levels, whereas a 4G63 will lift the head all day. Timing chains are revised on all new 4B11's. With stronger rods and crankshaft, give it a few years. It took close to a decade before the masses started making serious power on the 4G63. The 4B11 is fairly new, no crankwalk, no oil pump issues, and has 9:1 compression. It's only a matter of time before people start making more power on a stock block 4B11T
