Where did the spare motor come from? Someone just had one randomly siting around? I know shootout with busted cars and all, but a whole motor? One of my buddies knew a guy with a short block for sale about an hour away, few phone calls later, her was there with it in the back of his truck. It was a built 4G64, Manley 9:1 pistons and H-beam rods, assembled and never ran, scored for $700. I had to drill his 7 bolt head in the parking lot with a Wal-mart drill to fit over the 12mm head studs, then take the head to the car wash to wash out the shavings. Ideal, hell no, work, hell yeah. Not to mention timing a 4G64/3 combo is a bit iffy as well without adjustable cams, but we did it and it runs like a champ.
