Finally all back together, and moving under her own power. Haven't taken it for a rip quite yet as it doesn't have insurance on it. Base timing is set, TPS is set and nothing's leaking.

Today is a good day. Pics to follow.

Pics as promised.

I've taken her out for a rip, and unfortunately my wideband seems to have died. Well, she's been 4 years in the exhaust, I think it's served me well. wink

These Hankooks are STICKY! She feels tight and crisp. wink

Nope, it is a 4" K&N just sitting down by the bumper. I don't tend to take it out much when it's raining, but I have driven it like this in the rain before, no issues.

Tell me about it. I only managed to get to the track twice last year, and the last time I was out, my times kept getting lower and lower and lower until I decided to call it a day. I'm hoping to touch around the 10.7-10.8 mark this year. With the new LSD in the rear and the new wheels, I'm hoping for a miracle! smile

Sound like what I'm starting off with, first time out this year was good, last night went in the opposite direction. Glad I found my problem though, thought I forgot how to tune for a bit. Joys of the DSM game.

Are those quick release bumper clips on the front bumper?

Yes they are.

Alex:

The bumper itself is fubar'd. It's cracked and was poorly painted when I had my paint job done. I'm working on getting that sorted out.

Real ROTA's wouldn't do that. Maybe bend, but not break like this.

Yes they would. I've snapped a spoke on one of my Rotas...on a 2800lb car making 160hp. So believe me, a car that weighs more and has more power will put a lot more load on the rims than my car ever did.

IIRC this example "broke" as a results of hitting a curb..

From what I've experienced with Rotas, the castings are actually made well, they skimp on the finish quality. They chip and scratch as if they were rattle canned.

Salomon - What size tires were you running?

I suspect anything greater than a 50 aspect ratio would decrease the chances significantly of the rim taking the abuse, rather than the tire.

I don't think the quality of Rotas are anywhere near as bad as people like to make jokes about them being, but I have snapped a spoke on one, so it DOES happen. The rim was purely a track rim and never saw potholes or curbs, etc.

I think I came across that pic when I bought my Rota's, its OLD. Nonetheless for the price I paid for new 15" Rota Subzeroes in 5x114.3 @ 12.9lbs a rim was a steal for my slicks setup. I don't think they even make that size anymore.

And considering it's one of the most popular rims run by the faster DSM guys (READ: 9Sec or faster), I'll take my chances.

I wouldn't doubt it. He's friggin fast. I think the fastest auto is Nick Abele with his 91 black talon @ 179MPH, but I could be wrong.

8.2 is hella quick!

well kiggley was the fastest with 8.21 at the shoot out.. But English is claiming Jeff just took this with his new less charcoaled set up.

And Devin shultz..that 9 second run was with a sc61 back in 09 on an Aem ems. He destroyed his car during the same day. Is he related to Kevin Shultz

oh he claims a 8.21 on his web site as his best run.. I guess if he broke his own record at shoot out.. it would be a very big deal.

Well, fixed a pesky oil leak tonight at my oil return. Turns out the fitting itself was leaking. A quick call to Ziggy and next day I have a new oil return setup sitting at my doorstep. Thanks Zig!

I also replaced my wideband sensor, but unfortunately hit a rock in the middle of the road (thought it was a rabbit, too late to correct and it was late evening so it was hard to see) and took the harness connector clean off. Thanks to Ghislain, he had a spare, and I am going to solder/reconnect my sensor up.

Seems my driveshaft is just barely rubbing on my exhaust, so a little mechanic's wire to pull it away by about 1/2" will get it clear.

Meth is hooked back up, and ready to rock. I took her for a rip at low boost tonight (23psi) and MAN does it pull hard at that low of boost! I can't wait to get her to the track and put the latest weight savings to the test.

1.71 60' last year, maybe a 1.65 this year? Lets hope!!! smile

It's only used for stall up, nothing more. The turbo is just too big for my converter. I had 2 choices. Either go with a new converter or nitrous. Since I like the way the car drives on the streets of my car, I went with the latter. I'm only running a 50 shot just to get up on it at the line.

That's interesting.

What's a converter?

This is all auto trans stuff isnt it?

Stephen why are you expecting me to know this stuff? It doesn't pertain to my car at all.

I asumed with all your google knowledge you would run across what a torque convertor is and how it works. Sorry my bad.
