So many sketchy people at these things. If your car is SUPER clean, screw those big meets.

If it's a rust bucket, then by all means.

I was always worried about that, people scoping out nice cars and punching in their plates to get their information, even going as far as getting their VIN on the dash and going to MTO to get a used buyers package. Anyway, I only plan on going once or twice this year, it was nice to have the change of scenery.

Also. for all you 2g guys with the vrsf, you cannot use the oem foglights... they will not fit. I got a set of aftermarket foglights from my buddies Honda civic that he had laying around. I will get back with install pictures it isn't the ideal way I wanted to install them but I was anxious and will redo it when I have the time.

I know it's not a DSM, but it's XWD and turbo...and I still love DSMs

Well since the vr4 is down and I broke the miata, this is the new ride for a bit.

Yes it's a 6 speed sport combi turbo x, one of only around 30 in north america. It's vtuned, 320hp and about 450tq. I use HP tuners to log it and apply tunes.
I plan to upgrade to a 19t turbo, larger injectors, which should give me over 400hp. I'll probably stop there, the xwd system is a little fragile.

So much torque...those numbers are opposite of typical DSM numbers. Must have some serious get-up-and-go!

It's ok, it's actually pretty slow off the line, and it's a heavy beast. The engine is a GM 2.8l v6, originally developed in Australia. It's a variant of the v6 used in Cadillacs.

Started going at some rust, bondo, and seamseal with the wire wheel, but decided to pause untill I grab a faceshield! Need the money for a few obsure tools and manuals to do much more. Time to go chip a few more last bits of soundproofing on the firewall...

And yeah I managed to pump out a 14.1 @ 100 with a 2.1 60' on 185 all season tires. A few more psi the POS will be running 13's.

For anyone who doubts the size of a Supra SMIC...HOLY COW! Didn't get a chance to finish the install because it started raining but I know what I'll be doing to make it fit. This thing is massive! Got it pressure tested to 30psi and flipped the tanks

Yeah they are big. Thick too. Getting a good one isn't the easiest though. With age comes frailty, took me a while to find that one in great condition.

I was poking around under the hood of my cousin's new Optima 2L turbo the other day. Now THAT has one thick ass stock SMIC. They're still pretty new, but I say in the next year as the odd one shows up in a scrapyard, you might be able to get your hands on one..

Well I finally got my 16G beast back together and decided it was time to hit the track and see how it worked. Have been driving it around at 22psi on a conservative tune and it feels great.

So a few friends and I load up and head to Sparta for some Friday night test and tune. First pass was a no launch full pull just to see how the air fuels were. Ended up going 13.7 ish at 116mph. Around 26 psi. So I decided it was launch time. Everytime I launched hard the clutch would slip in 2-3-4 gear. Turned down the boost to 20 psi and that fixed the problem.

That boost got me to a 12.73 at 110.66 mph. I'll post up a time slip and some videos.

Chris, what clutch powers your beast?

An exedy stage 2. 3 puck ceramic sprung hub with a beefed up pressure plate, drives nice. Works great on the street, just not so much after hard launches. It has held at 28psi so I guess the heat from the launch is too much
