Well I took it for its first voyage! Just up the street and back a few times.

Its loud! shifts good! considering I had the tranny in about asmany peices as I could! Only biulds boost to 2psi... then the obnoxous wastegate opens? Gotta fix that My exhaust dosnt like my driveway.

I had to use my windows7 laptop.. as my tuning laptop would not stay charged. When I loaded connected and logged my first run.. it forgot all my inputs??? so I had to go back out and reprogram all the inputs again.??

So next... silencer for the muffler.. boost controler...

something's wrong with your waste gate, I have never heard of one that open at 2psi, the stock one on a 14b is 11psi.

Which inputs are you talking about?

I think so to.. Its just a cheap xspower 38mm. So its either garbage or set up wrong.Hose from the compressor cover straight to the lower section of the gate. the upper section is left alone. The open wastegate sounds like crap.. not happy with that either.

Heres a log of the first run.. check my inputs.. all stock. They were set up with a map sensor and wideband.

Then check the second log after I fixed it.. Its like It forgot.
Old laptop, that couldnt live on battery

Inputs are based on the PC, not the ECU. You'll have to set those inputs on every single laptop you use to tune your car, every time.

8-9 psi if you run a direct line to the WG. Stock boost is set to ~11-12psi via the stock EBS/ECU.

If it's a China gate, the spring could be weak. Your WG dump sounds like sh!t because you aren't making enough exhaust gasses for it to sound decent.

When mine opens up, it's pure sex, but I'm also cranking out 34psi of boost. Two PSI would sound like an exhaust leak and nothing more.

When it hits 0vacuum.. it hestitates.. before it creates boost. Then it creeps to 2.7psi but it seems to sound like the gate is open. So I tthink it just opens as soon as I make any boost and the 2psi is actaully boost creep. This of course is not a wot pull. Just trying to make a bit of boost.

Just to clarify on Ryan's comment, the "Pin assignment for ECMLink functions (ECU-side)" are saved independent of which PC you are using but "Pin Assignments for datalogging (PC-side)" must be set for each laptop.

Your previous issue of injector settings losing your settings has no impact from changing PC's.

Just going to say it, make sure your turbo isn't fried. Salomon went through a hell of a lot to find out his turbo was pooched when it wasnt making boost, But it does sound like this is a WG issue.

So I warmed her up.. staged her at the end of the driveway..dissconnected the wastegate from the boost line...

And launched!

Nicely..

Made 12.3lbs of boost..
10.4:1 AFR
29.8lbs/m
5210rpm
42% throttle!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qlqvdz4h0spe1si/First%20pull%20log.2013.04.09-01.elg

Its a start.. Now I need better boost control.. The wastegate came with 2 extra springs.. both silver but different thicknesses??

I may try them but Id rather know what psi spring Im putting in it!

Turbo is a clipped 20gtd05h rebiult by Justin on tuners.

Jay, if you disconnected your line at the wastegate, you should have spooled a HELL of a lot more than 12psi. You would be relying on exhaust pressure to push the valve open on your wastegate.

My green is pretty much the same size as yours and if my line is disconnected I can see about 30psi before it pushes the valve open.

No i didnt even open full throttle.. I jist made boost and let off. The 13b on my auto hit 25 psi in no time when we installed the mbc wrong. I wasnt gonna make that mistake with a 20g.

OK figured out my problem with the wastegate.. Was a gasket leak. I can make 5psi at half throttle now. Still dialing in so im not pushing it yet. Have not been WOT yet.

BUT

Got the speed density to work!

So all I need to do before the safety and etest is fab up somethiing to hold down the battery and she is ready to go.

Im going to etest her after my birthday in may so the etest will still be valid next year when it needs it.

My goal is to be road worthy by opening day of fastnfurious6!

Got the new spring from Ziggy, With some cool hood pins.(Thanks Mike)holds boost alot better.
Then I insatlled the hood pins. 1g pins took me ab out 20 minutes to install.

2g pins... well I guess it had to come apart again! Less then 1 week before the safety.

Not worried about hydrolock? The filter right there seems like a PRIME candidate for it, in my opinion. A 'dry shield' for the filter probably wouldn't hurt.

Otherwise, she looks great! Can't wait to see her in person now that she's all back together!

Well the only way to get water to the filter is in thru the bumper hole. It pretty much seals itself behind the bumper. Plus I have a 1 inch port off the CAI that is hosed up to the top of the ttranny that acts as a anti suction releif. What ever there called. So technicly I could drive it thru a 7 inch deep puddle and not have to worry.

Ya. the first day it rains.. ill prolly leave the car where it sits and take a cab home. Then remove it. actually designed the Cai to place the filter above the frame if I chicken out. But the only water should come from a deep puddle or from being splashed from another car.

Not as much of an issue out in your parts, but the water thrown up from driving behind cars makes a HUGE difference...I had a lot of issues with the CAI on my Mazda 3 (when I had it installed), and that was with it surrounded by the stock splashguard, a dryflow filter, and a dryflow sock. It sucked up A LOT of water...if you had a MAF your car would run like crap in the rain with that setup, if it would run at all.

Not worth the risk, IMO.

just get the hydro fabric from K&N, it wraps around the filter and wicks away stray water but still allows proper air flow..problem solved. but just so you know, you would need to suck in a ton of water in order to hydro lock, if you don't drive your car in a creek then your totally good, even in the rain and on the hiway.

Just my $.5

Had this...it's 'okay', but not great by any means...still had A LOT of issues, and my filter was significantly more blocked off from the elements than Jay's is. He might be alright since no MAF if he got one of them (as I had also previously suggested), but I personally wouldn't take the risk if I intend to DD the car.

I have my K&N in the same spot, but mind you, I don't drive my car in the rain if I don't have to.

If you get that filter wet and it sucks in some water, by the time it hits your engine it will be so vaporized by the heat of the turbo that it won't really make a difference. Hell, I inject water in the motor on purpose at WOT. Dual M7's fogging the sh!t out of my throttle body elbow.

I always thought about the turbo atomizing the water aswell.. but did Eric not hydroloc his motor? And he had his filter instock location with a big hole under it.

perhaps, but you realy need a ton if water to hydrolock a motor, you might not need a lot of water to screw with sensors but to physicaly hydrolock a 2L motor requires your intake to be completely submerged while at full throttle, just think of how much water a 2.5inch pipe can flow.

if any one has tried seafoam through a vacuum hose and accidentally choked out the motor it will still start because it will shut down from flooding before you bend the sh*t out of intetnals.

IMO hydrolock is as overrated as crank walk. wet sensors are a different story tired

SD FTW in this case

Honestly I'd be more concerned with large water droplets hitting the compressor blades. I know there are some people who have been spraying pre-turbo have had issues when the nozzle didn't atomize the water correctly.
