Ron,
Don't want to criticize, but would it maybe have been a good idea to have some wrench flats on the pressed in fitting to hold it (eliminate the tendency to rotate) while installing the fitting that goes into it?

Ron,
Don't want to criticize, but would it maybe have been a good idea to have some wrench flats on the pressed in fitting to hold it (eliminate the tendency to rotate) while installing the fitting that goes into it? I agree, with you Ziggy, but his design does have the one washer & bolt (see groove on the press-fit piece) that will stop it from moving and will probably be more than adequate to the job given that he doesn't need to tighten anything on there too hard - it is aluminum after all! He could always use a pipe-wrench if necessary, although that's a far less elegant solution and if he's going for looks too, then a pipe wrench would undoubtedly mar the surface.

That's really cool! I am really impressed with your work, I have always been interested in caging my car. How much weight does the cage add to the car?

I wouldn't recommend it unless you don't use it much for daily. Daily means no helmet and if you were ever to crash the bars would make a nice dent in your head :S I'm sure insurance would be fun to deal with as well for having a roll cage in there. I'm just stipulating, but seems logical. Looks great on a racecar though!

Unless your building a race car, a cage is a rediculous idea, no matter how u slice it IMO. Ron happens to have a RACE CAR he drives on the street, which is cool and ludachris at the same time. Plan on running consistent low tens or better? Wanna gut your interior? Wanna take five times as long to get in and out of your car everytime u wanna drive and get a pack of smokes or buy weed or whatever? Build a cage in your daily driver My 2 cents on the cage comments. Nice work Ron, its coming along nicely. Carry on.
