I was white as a ghost when I saw the bolt lodged between the cam gear and the head. Crank was a tooth off. No contact!!!!
I pulled apart the timing, and didn't see where it could have come from. I was also VERY careful when I put it together the first time. I don't know where it could have come from.

Sorry to hear, but on the other hand, glad I didn't miss anything Maybe we should re-schedule this for the day of the DSM invasion?

you boys should be aiming for 11's on those new AWD's, not 12's Ya, but Mark granny shifts & doesn't double clutch I'll be looking for 11's next time out. Was close to happening my first time out but had a bunch of things working against me (isn't that always the way), 30+ deg day, had to put in 91 (instead of the normal 94) & detune my street tune/boost, not great launch & when did, bogged when it hit 2nd, etc, etc. Mark had issues as well, mainly the clutch was slipping & he only hit 22psi max but was more like 20psi most of the run. Think we got things straightened around but ran out of time for more boost. With more boost & if he can stay on the gas (clutch not slipping), he should be running mid 12's. I'm sure he could hit 11's with the evoIII but being he still hasn't put in the ARP's, I don't think he wants to run the kind of boost he should be running to see the most out of that evoIII. Heads studs, 3052 & some real boost, should get him into the 11's as well

Agreed, I eventually did start lifting the head running 30 psi all day on the evo 16g on stock head bolts

This goes to show you how brainwashed some of ForcePower's customers are:
"But to build one to a level capable of competing with blackbird is retarded. Heck building a awd dsm in general to that level is crazy enough..
At the end of the day Mike's just dreaming. We've all seen all the money, blood, sweat, frustration and wall of broken parts it takes to run a car at the level FP runs their car at."
Now I plan to compare the Blackbird with Todd Meunier's streetcar.
Blackbird best ET 10.58@140mph vs Todd's best ET 10.60@138.5mph
TURBO
Blackbird is running a GT42R, 74mm comp wheel rated for over 100 lbs/min of airflow
Todd is running a GT35R, 61mm comp wheel rated for 65 lbs/min of airflow
HEAD
Blckbird - Stage3 (Full race, complete Ferrea valve train, port and polish, HK$ cams)
Todd - Completely stock head w/ 272 regrinds....even stock headbolts, with OEM composite headgasket
BOTTOM END
Blackbird- Stage3 (FPM spec JE coated pistons, 4340 crank, custom 4340 rods, crank girdle. Stress relieved block, B/S removed and oil pump upgrade. Built to rev up to 10000 rpm. Tested up to 11500 rmp
Todd - Completely STOCK
FUEL SYSTEM
Blackbird - 5GAL fuel cell, with lines, Aeromotive fuel rail, and Aeromotive fuel pump, 1650cc injectors
Todd - Walbro255, 1000cc injectors, stock lines(feed+return)
ENGINE MANAGEMNT
Blackbird - AEM EMS
Todd - DSMlink v2
Now, my question is....... is the EXTRA $12,000+ worth of performance parts really needed to only run 0.02 seconds quicker??? Somebody must be doing something terribly wrong with regards to tuning/driving. Anybody that deals with ForcePower should really ask themselves if they are recieving the most performance for their hard-earned dollar. Money can't buy driving skills, and owning a shop doesn't make you a tuner

What are you gonna do when Kevin leaves town ? Are you seriously expecting to run 9's on street tires first time out ? I really hope you do , but I'm just trying to be realistic here. V3 is different from V2, but I will figure it out. Kevin is teaching me as he goes.

Wow...I guess I missed that post by Kevin about Todd's car. I always knew Todd had a fantastic car with a relatively basic setup, but never knew just how basic it was! I often use his car and Reza's as an example when tryin to talk people out of buying stuff they really don't need and maybe really haven't researched well enough yet! Anyways, makes your numbers even MORE impressive Todd!!

It's these guys I look up to, Reza, Todd, Kevin, Tim etc. No shop has ever impressed me as much as these guys do, and that's just in Canada. And I'm fortunate to say I've met all of them. Curt Brown, Jake Montgomery, Casey Barret, Jean-Paul Ricco, Mike Rizzotti, just to name a few, they don't have shops to build their cars. I'm sure everyone can agree, Homegrown is always better than the sh!t you get commercially. I, and I'm sure most here as well, will give you some damn good credit for actually building it. It will be a monster!

I really thought I was going to have a ton of help building it, but turns out just Mike Kutschrutter really showed up a few times.
I take pride in doing it myself. This car even got a name. I'm new to serious tuning, so I am letting a man with a great rep do that, BUT I plan to learn along the way.
I really hope to meet up with all of the guys you have mentioned, Ryan. Kevin is the only one I have really met, and he shows true DSM spirit.
I have the parts to go stupid fast, and I am an excellent driver, so this car should make good times.
For the record. this car is full weight PLUS!!
A/C and cruise are still in. I put in a huge stereo(no trunk space left) This is a street car, running street tires. I don't plan to use race gas or meth. Let's see what she can do.

Because I could run out. It's just a street car. I may eventually get hooked on meth, but for now, we will see what she can do without it. Pump gas.

Update. Tranny getting done by Mr. Mirza. I knew it would need to be done. She's taking forever to be done, but I really want to make sure everything is perfect. I want to keep the car for a long time and not have to work on it too much. Cheap, fast, reliable....pick two? I shose the last two. Oh and check this out!

So, I have had problems. I thought it was my fault, but it looks like somehow I got this head with some weird valves in it. Here is a pic Ziggy sent me Here is my valve. This is one that wasn't damaged from the rocker smashing it.

The top valve simply looks new and unmachined. They generally get cut down to size to get the installed height to spec.
