I agree with Jay. Seems as if he's overcharging you. I got my old Talon painted a custom candy apple red, and they did all the prep work as well. The body wasn't really in rough shape, so there was not a lot to be done there, but I paid 2 grand...

Dings and everything show up very easily from what I am told.

It's because no matter how much body work you do, you see every imperfection the second a new coat of clear is sprayed.

The amount of prep work that's done is what dictates how much a paint job costs. That's why you can find a $500 paint job or a $5000 paint job.

$2500 sounds pretty reasonable if they're fixing dents, sanding and filling, removing trim, everything properly masked, etc.

And as your paint guy said, black is the worst.

personally, I would never do a single change to my car that cost the same amount as the entire car complete.

i would try 4 wheels auto collision in brampton, that's where I had my celica sprayed to Lexus IS300 graphite pearl and the outcome was flawless and significantly less.

Grant, in Eric's defense, he's put a lot more into the car than just the body.

The whole top end has been rebuilt. There is a few aftermarket add-on goodies, he's got one HELL of a stereo system in there including a 7" LCD and a PS2.

Plus, his car has needed paint from the day he bought it. $2500 is just doing it right, and to find a car with those modifications with fresh paint will cost well over that price.

Plus, it's just so much cooler to say your car has had a conversion done. Shows the time/effort/care in it.

I've put time/effort/blood/money into this car.. NT or not, it's all about the body style for me. I don't care so much about the engine as people on this board do, though I have some goodies in my NT as well. I'm not the guy who is going to take my car to the track and race it, I'll be the guy in a clean sports car watching the races.

In my opinion, it's worth it.

And your opinion should be all that matters. Besides I think it's looking good already.

I am definetely an engine guy, but the car is looking good!

Think today I'll be removing the rear spoiler, and possibly mounting my new one... Any thoughts on how i can do this easily? If i look at it and just dont feel comfortable with it, i'll be having the body guy do it for me.

I paid like $200 when I had my ESI, with a lifetime warranty.

That's because they figured the lifetime of a DSM is about 12.6 minutes after the ownership changes hands

i paid 175 for the Talon, 200 for the Audi S4. Both with lifetime warranties from AudioHeaven.

Hmz, I went to Apple for my quote, was something like 280 i think after tax. it's been a while since i asked about it though. Its going to be a next year type project for me.

There is a guy that is from our local club that does tinting for 200 bucks, life time warranty, and high quality film, and work.

Though I guess the drive over would make the 80 dollar saving gone
