As long as the Ownership is signed on the back by the previous owner agreeing to the sale, and you have a hand writtin receipt, anyone who does have insurance on an automobile can go to the MTO with there insurance policy get a 10-day for you, but if you get in an accident they will go after the insurer that purchased the 10 day. I beleive it is 3 10-day permits per year. All vehicals need to be registered in Canada within 30 days of arrival proving that they meet Canadian safty standards, and come with the appropriate lights, seat belts, bumpers, ect.. If for some reason the vehical does not pass the federal inspection you can apply for an extention through Customs or the Registar of Imported Vehicals. If it does pass the fedaral safty at the location specified by th RIV, ask them to do the provicial safty too, then go pay for your taxes, ownership, plates, sticker.
