Hey guys, im new to DSM and am considering lowering my talon, its a 1990 TSI AWD. I have always had lowered cars and i love the look + handling. Im thinking of getting coilovers as springs do not provide the drop that i want. Do you guys recommend this for this car? What are the disadvantages? In fact, do they even make coilovers for these cars and if so, what are some good ones you would recommend?
Thanks

I would recommend the following combo: KYB AGX's with Tein S-Techs or Eibach Pros. You could also go with a ground control system. This is in the wrong section, and should be in Handling. I'll have Jeff move it. There are MANY disadvantages of slamming your 1G. Big one: Try launching without scraping your rear end. Another: Have you ever tried to go over potholes/speed bumps with a slammed car? IMO: Lower it a bit, but don't slam it. Here's a shot of KYB's with Tein S-Techs (My car) with 40 profile tires. I will be getting 45's which will size the gap down a bit. But just an example: ![[Linked Image]](http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t74/94TalonTSIAWD/DSCF0549.jpg)

In fact i have the exact same setup as you right now on my talon Il probably keep it the way it is but just wanted to get some info on coilovers. As for the potholes/speedbumps etc...i am the master of that. I owned a few slammed cars over the past 8 years or so, one of which was this one... ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/jdmek/100_5952-1.jpg)

Wow, nice looking 1GA there man. Very clean and the paint looks immaculate.
So, you want it lower? There's little to no wheel gap there, and the car has a nice stance.
A set of Ground Control Coilovers would do the trick, and they would work with your existing suspension setup.

re-route your exhaust away from the transfer case, mine runs along beside it and it isn't near the ground. if i wanted to i could slam mine, i just don't really like the look all that much. i'm running the tien springs and AGX struts with 2G TSi wheels just like you and i love the stance.
if you do go lower you should be fine with those wheels as long as you roll your fender in the front and don't run a wide tire, a 205 would probably fit. i know there's plenty of room in the back.

Yeah i got Pirellis 235/45/17 all around so it wont work ah well winter is coming and im gonna leave it the way it is right now. Maybe in spring il look in to some coilovers (if i decide to keep the car) The car looks good right now and it handles very well, im just not used to seeing gaps between my wheels and fenders hehe but i like it the way it is now as well!
