Quite some time ago, I heard that there were new cams in the works for our cars from Brian Crower. I heard the prototypes got excellent reviews, and they were going to be CHEAP.
Well, some of them are here now! So far, they are only available in stage 2 (272's) or stage 3 (280's), no 264's. Also, they come as a pair, so no 264/272 combo available.
And they ARE cheap...for cams. I only ordered in a set of each for starters, but can get more of course. With our strong dollar right now, I can sell these at $359.95 for the PAIR! That is less than ONE HKS cam, and about $150. or so less than FP's COMP cams.
If there is enough interest, I would also consider doing a group buy on these. If there is enough interest, I would think we can probably get the price down to around $325./PAIR if I can order enough of them at once...and if our dollar stays more or less where it is...

Well, Looks like we have 4 already interested. I think it would take about 8 sets or so to manage that price, but I think this could happen.
I don't think we should sit on this too long, or they may sell out again. How long do you guys think we should give this?
I would like to start a list, and see if we can make this happen. As in past, I will ask everyone who takes advantage of this special to also contribute $10. to this board. That will not be taxed or show up on your bill, but it will go straight to Andrew for maintaining this site. I think this is only reasonable, and you will STILL be realizing nice savings!! I will be asking for a 50% deposit before I place the order, and the balance once I have the product and am ready to ship to you.. Of course, shipping from me to you and taxes would be on top of that pricing
Please put your name on the list if you are serious, and indicate whether you would want 272's or 280's. I believe they are saying the 272's are compatible with the stock valve train, and for the 280's they are saying requires their springs and retainers. I would assume other upgraded springs would also work?

They will net similar results from what I can tell: FP2's have the highest amount of lift, then the HKS 272's are slightly less, then the BC's 272's are slightly less then the HKS. As for duration both FP (or comp) & BC are 212 deg @ .050 lift, Im not sure if HKS are they same? The other thing to consider is the profile on all these cams, like take for example the FPX series of cams, they have a much faster ramp rate (why require aftermarket springs), I would imagine their all comparable but not sure if they would be the exact same. The other thing to consider is how they are degreed from the factory or I guess they refer to it as the centerline? This will effect/shift where the powerband is & again not sure if they would all be the exact same in this area. I do know I've heard lots of great things about the BC cams. The 272's (or believe they refer to them as stage 2) will work fine with your stock springs. The larger 280's (or stage 3) will require aftermarket springs. I know they say the BC single springs work great with them & can be reved past the redline all day long. The other spings on the market should net you similar results but if you need new springs you probably won't beat the price of the BC kit (spring/retainers) & once again, only heard great things. With the 280's you will lose a good amount on the bottom end, these are a pretty "extreme" cam & are ment to be reved well past the redline (ie your 16g isn't going to cut it ). At the stock idle of 750rpm, they lump like crazy from any vids I've seen & I highly doubt you'll pass emissions, unless you know somebody.

Ziggy I have a set of crowers 280s in my 97 talon and they work fine with my 2.4 and dsmlink. They idle like baby actually at 1000 or so. I would like to run a set in my 91 auto 2.0 race car so please put me down will take a set. You will also want to see what best price on matching spring set would be. You have to run springs prety much for sure with these cams.Andn buddy ran a set of even crazier cams than 280s next level up in crower line in his 2.0 and think he only had a chip for tuning and maf translator no dsmlink or aem. Personally would stick with 272s in a street 2.0 or a 264/272 combo but being this set is going in a car that will be revved to the moon might as well go big. So order away and I will get some and put them in whenever. While you can put the cams in easy by ziptying the timing belt to the cam gears ala RRE method putting in the springs would be tougher without just the right tool I think to get them out. Course with head off its simple as pie. And yes I realize brian crowers are slightly different from crowers and cheaper but hey that fine being cheap on the race car where I can be.

I would like deposits at that time. With luck, I will have them in time for Yorkdale 1. Greg Kelly 272 2. Reza Mirza 272 3. Scott Neville 280 4. Al Brounstein 280 & possibly springs/retainers kit 5. Chris, you should know by now I am no expert on this stuff, I just import and sell, LOL. Maybe someone else can answer your question? In the meantime, looks like there is good interest and this should happen. Like I said, I would like a deposit this coming weekend, as I would like to place the order then so that they don't sell out again...

Just an update, I installed my 272's and have noticed quite a difference in the top end. The evo 16g pulls even better now from 5k to just under 8k now.
Went up to Cayuga today and on the first run out I totally lit up all 4 wheels on my launch. Felt like the car was making so much more power as it sat there just spinning all 4, was amazed I still did a 1.6 60ft as it didn't feel like it at all. When I hit 2nd finally, car just hauled, put it into 3rd same thing car just freight trained. Top of 3rd gear, kaboom, clunk, the JDM tranny took a sh!t as I heard metal pieces flying off and hitting the track.
I coasted from top of 3rd gear to a 12.0 @ 113. If it wasn't for the tranny, I am pretty sure the run was well near mid 11's with a much higher trap speed than what I ran previously.
I still consider that not bad at all for coasting from 3rd gear. With the cams the 60ft seems effortless, and feels like it could be much better if I didn't cook all 4 wheels in first. At high rpm these cams feel really nice and well worth the money. I ran what I did above pretty much in 2nd and 3rd gear. 1st gear was pegged above redline the whole time as I had no traction at all.
Tranny cracked right from the front diff area right throughout the bell housing, almost in half, pissing all the gear oil out instantly. Anyways towed the car home and am now on the quest for a tranny that can handle the new found power and my driving.
The BC cams rock though!

Reza, really sorry to hear about your tranny, but glad to get another good review on the cams. 12.0 coasting with a broken tranny is still DAMN impressive. I look forward to hearing your times when you get a new tranny in...

Hmm so did you just do the quick zip tie the timing belt install or did you do the whole timing belt deal? Sucks about your tranny. Not sure why it would break like that.Mine is doing fine after putting a lot more power thru it.Still going for upgraded one also just for insurance.

I didn't bother with the zip ties, I just took off the timing belt, added another 30 minutes to the install. No big deal, I like to take my time and make sure everthing is kosher before putting it back together, i.e. all the timing marks, tension etc.
On the other hand, I put a new tranny in last night and this one is shifting soooo nice, even better than the one I blew up on Saturday.

Yea about 30 minutes to do a timing belt on my car, considering I don't have to remove the water pump or anything else, practice makes perfect. Takes me about 1 hour to drop the tranny as well(if I don't get lazy), I know some guys can do it in less than an hour.

Greg, I had to lean out my idle quite a bit to get them to idle nice. I noticed the more rich you have the car at idle, the more dirty the cams sound, lean it out and the lope goes away slightly and the car drives better in the low rpm.
