My point being... I'm NOT a lazy ass, I just apparently have a mis-guided sense of priorities, when it comes to the DSM world. Note: In order to reply to any of this, and using the UBB, and it's related server, you become one of those things that prevents me from working on the car...

Just slow.
"A man with priorities so far out of whack, doesn't deserve such a fine automobile." You know, that line has already been used, in this situation. And slow isn't a fair term... I'm plenty quick, just on other projects, and I hardly ever do a half-assed job. The latter, is my largest problem, I suspect... but, it's genetic, and I can't do much about that. The good news about that sort of heritage is, that when Ferdinand finally released his car, they never caught up to him either...

...no Rob, it was just a wireless notebook in the dark. ...and don't worry about it, I was just winding down after about 12 hours of physical labour, intensified by one or two too many tim horton's extra large coffees. Kinnaird knows what I'm talking about though, just ask him where he got his custom intercooler piping.

13.2 @ whofingcares, or perhaps 20.? @ unbeliveablyslow is slow.
You're slow.
Therefore, "slow" IS a fair term.
Get over it. Get started on the car. Then, you can be slow "your way".

Andrew, you are the ANTI DSM'er. ----definition: one who does NOT eat, sleeep, cry, and live paycheck to paycheck to keep his POS on the road. Just put the thing together already and shut the trailer queen and ghetto king up. Its like a day or two worth of work. You remember how to use a ratchet right?

Makes you the fool for NOT being able to drive your DSM.
Do you even REMEMBER why you bought it in the first place?
You'd THINK the guy that loved the cars enough to run a national club's website, would love them enough to get his running. Or, is it REALLY a love for computers/internet stuff, and the car was just an excuse to run a UBB?
"Actually, it's probably more like a month's worth of work... "
Uh-huh. a month's worth of work that's taking 4 years.
For a guy who complains that he doesn't have any "time" free to work on the car, you've been wasting a awful lot of it typing to those of us WITH running cars.
Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

No, Mark, I made a list at one point.... and there's a good 200 hours of work out there, sitting waiting for me. Perhaps a bit daunting. A few trivial posts, between checking up on customer's servers, etc, is no real time lost...

We tried that once. We actually went there with the intent of getting the damned car back together. However, by the time Andy cleaned off his workbench a few times (He actually VACUUMED the damned thing!!), made a large dinner for everyone, and decided that we all needed to watch a movie... Combine that with how upsettingly ANAL he is about everything ("Did you remember to count the number of turns it took to get that bolt out?" ) ... we got VERY little done.

-LOL- thanks guys... I will keep that in mind. If it was only about re-assembly, that would work. But, it goes beyond that... And besides, the last time we tried that, they just made fun of me, because I tried to clean up the tools first, and get organized, when they just wanted to shove new stuff on the car. A job worth doing, is worth doing right.

Nope. We have a friend who hasn't had a running DSM for almost 4 years. That, and the knowledge that we don't have to read anything we don't want to. Now, go away if you don't like playing in our sandbox. (which is probably where the sand in said vaginas came from. )

For crying out loud. Im probably pretty close to being as anal about things as you Andy, but from the time my car went for storage last fall till summer this year, I had built a motor for a friend, installed it in his car, took my motor out, and every thing else under the hood out, AND the interior, cleaned, sandblasted, painted, polished, dyed, bla bla bla f*ckin bla, and had it all back together not to mention all the other little favours I did like help another friend build his motor after pulling it in his garage and reinstalling it a few months later. All this while working a full time job and I had lots of time in between to slack off and party.
Im no mechanic, I learnt this sh*t from owning a DSM since my registry date. So if I can do all this in a few months, you have no excuses left in the book.

Yes Rob. Is that an official governement poster from California? You're right Rob, a lot of it is not required for the car to run, but that was the entire point of taking it off the road in the first place... to clean it up, add some upgrades, etc. So, unless that's done, there isn't much point in just dumping it back on the road. Next time you're by, drop in... I'll show you what I have accomplished in the last 3 years. And, introduce you to Junior. I'll never blame him, but I must admit, I was a bit off in the amount of time he occupies... The Mrs works 5 nights a week, and we don't believe in day-care, so there are some nights when I'm nothing but Daddy. It's great... and he will hold tools, and shine the light in my eyes, but it's definitely super slow work mode. It'll come... And seriously, if anyone is passing by.... 371 Binbrook Road, only 5 mins East of the traffic lights you pass on the way to Cayuga. "stop typing and work on the car" yeah, BS, how much work could I get done, in the 4 mins it took to reply to you boneheads. I had to be on the computer anyhow, to help a customer, so that's paid time. Now, off to Home Depot, for more deck supplies...
