so my buddy calls me out to show me something he got for his car (2001 prelude) i thought it would be a turbo kit or something... when i get there, he's sitting in a 2001 wrx so we line up and on three we launch...i get about 2 cars off the line (he JUST got the car so he didn't know how to lauch an awd) by the time i put it into 3rd (110km) i hear him coming up on my ass and then pulls up and passes oh well i had him right up to 100km

Really Jeff? Upping the boost to 15psi, 255 pump, fmic (granted a starion), 2.5 pipe and a maft... Yeah I think that would add up to be more power then a bone stock wrx. The only thing that is different in his setup from my (old) setup is an exhaust, I never had a problem with wrx's, mildly modded or not. Now STi's gave me a pretty good run for the money. Out of the 4 or so I've raced (I'm sure none of them had any heavy mods done to them mind you) I beat 3, the 4th one I broke my axle when I launched it so we won't be counting that one

I'm not really surpised to be honest. Galant is heavy! Due to age, a 2.25" exhaust, and he got you after 100KM, that's pretty normal. whenever my car is even or faster than a car that is 10 years newer but with more hps when we are both stock(such as WRX), I'm happy.

I don't think wrx are that light either. And why are you only running 15psi? You have a fuel pump and fmic should easily be able to run near 20psi with decent fuel. You should have enough injectors for that.An extra 5 psi should do quite a bit. Course he can up his boost too and start modding.Makes for some good competition. And also isn't the wrx a 2.4 and if so will have more torque and more area under the curve also making it faster.Just bolt on a 50 trim already!

Great advise Allan. Now, if only you would buy him a new engine if he blows up his doing what you just told him. 20psi on stock 450cc injectors. yay... Starion FMIC is not much better than the stocker. I'm not surprised. The Galant is heavier and probably not in as good state of tune as the WRX. If not tuned right, you'd be happy to see 200hp from those mods. That is assuming you don't knock up the wazoo getting timing pulled. Sure, with enough money and tuning expertise, you can make any "X" car faster than "Y" car. I've never lost (even close) to a WRX, but then again, both my Talons were well tuned for the mods they have and I can drive the way the car is meant to be driven.

Never bothered with the 1/4 but should be in the neigbourhoods of say...26 secs. Then again, the Citroen, uses 4.5L/100kms..... ps. Hell even my (SAFC Tuned - hahaha) NT Galant can give an ill-driven, ill tuned FWD Turbo Talon a run for the money (16.1s 1/4) I've seen plenty in the 16s.....and outlaunched 2 AWD DSMs on the track.

1g is 195HP at 10 psi 2g is 210HP at 12 psi
However, at 15 psi, you should of kicked his ass!!! You are making good power at that point even on a 14b.

And yes, its 11.5psi (a figure that one probably never sees since no one runs stock boost - heh). And, that extra 3.5psi is going to do jack, maybe 25-30hp at the most. Not with a JDM with say 100xxx +++ kms on it. No way on earth on an ill tuned engine.

I had one. sigh... . And to stay on topic, I could never beat a WRX in one. But it did go to florida/ohio/qubec/BC and was still going strong - 1 gear when I got hit. i'm gonna drive this thing to the ground so i logged my car today just cruising around and the advance timing was up to 35 deg. and it only went up with acceleration like i said, i'm still new to this logging business
