Hopefully the little turbo will give it a wider powerband, the Civic SI's now don't make any power below 5,000rpm.

Honda = fuel economy. Priority #1. Not even the S2K sold that well...hence they're no longer in production.

Oh but they tried with the "re-birth" of the CRX aka CRZ..And had they not done the hybrid power train, I guarantee they would have sold like hot cakes.

A 1.6L N/A motor is already good on gas. Why torture people with anything smaller to save a few more bucks in fuel and maybe 50-100km range on the highway..

IMO, they're all for chicks.

I recently read somewhere that Honda is now also building some of the FITs in China. I would be checking the VIN for where it is made if considering a new FIT.

The Honda Fit for the Canadian market was built in China since December 2011 until last year.

The 2015 model year began production in Celaya Mexico.

As for the turbo Civic, I'm all for the idea of it. But once the fan boys start crashing them, expect it to be one of the most expensive cars to insure.

I see this happening once the "tuners" start tinkering with them and start adding lots of power to the FWD cars.

Going to have to disagree with the 1.5l stab, displacement doesn't mean as much as it used to.
Manufactures have no problem getting 200 plus out of a 1.5l, plus the fact that it weighs less when it's getting harder and harder to find ways to reduce weight in modern cars I would say it's a good thing.
For me it's the fact that it's a honda sedan so you know they are going the eco route not the performance route.

I have nothing against Mexican cars....but just having returned from Cuba, I have to say I was not at all impressed with any of the Chinese cars or buses....

The sun DID fry all of me, including the brains...

But, our relatively new tour bus died on us while idling at the side of the road, and would not re-start. Fortunately, we were on a slight downhill, and a bunch of people got out to push the thing to bump start it. I was not impressed.

I also wondered why I saw some Volvos there, but apparently they are now also owned by the Chinese company Geely...

Sure, of course they will go the eco route. There is already the Si and the coming Type R for performance.

But once they sell the econo box version with a turbo, there is nothing stopping people from upgrading. We DSM'ers know all about that. :-)

Although I do agree with you I don't think the next generation of tuners is going to happen, it seems now that it's become more difficult to mod cars the kids are going the low and slow route, but who knows what will come. There has also been a push for all new cars to be illegal to modify.
