i bought the car not working from a guy that takes it to a garage all the time, the sensors were all replaced brand new, after 7 months of sittin they thought it was the ECU and was waiting for a new one......i didnt want a new one cuz i dont got money for that, seen as how i was paying the bill off to get the car for free......but anyways....i took the car from the garage.....

i got an ECU all the numbers match up placed it in and the car turns over but wont start.... there also is no spark coming from plug 1 and 4, the only ones I tested.... I dont know what else to do, I've been waiting for this car for so long and obviously want to get it on the road before winter for a bit....all responses are greatly appreciated thanks!
Help a young mans dream come true!!! lol j'k

If there is no spark, check the ignition system. Start with checking the connections to make sure they are all plugged in. Check the coil also to make sure it's good.

Check the cam angle sensor (aka crankshaft position sensor).

Yep the coil pack is a very good place to start. I was driving and parked the car home one day. the next morning it just didn't start. Turns out the coil pack was gone.

I've got the same thing. But I'm wondering how do you check the ignition module? And DSMs have 2 ignition coils. 1 for cylinders 1,4 and one for 2,3 cylinders. It will still run with one ignition coil inoperative. Its very unlikely both would stop working at once you would think. But what is a good way to check the ignition coils and the ignition module? Any way to use a multimeter? Thanks.

How do you check if an ignition coil is bad?

I've got a 1990 Laser N/T...same problem. No spark. I've read that if the cam sensor is misaligned, a spark should still be produced. Where can I buy a coil pack and a cam sensor, and are they much $$? Are they hard to replace? I think I'd rather just replace them that bother checking them if they're not much $$.

Thanks,

Dan

Easiest is just to borrow someone's good coil pack and swap it in. Might want to borrow a Power transistor/ignitor as well.

Takes about 15 mins. You can swap out the coil pack without taking the fuel rail out, but its a lot easier if you just loosen the rail a little.

Or even easier than actually swapping them is simply connecting it without removing the old Coil, if it works than you wont be mad you have to swap them, if it doesnt work than you will be glad you didnt.
