So I had to replace the rear calipers.

All was fine. Went for a half hour drive just to make sure. Long story short i lose most of my braking power.

come to find leaking fluid. Limp it home and then get underneath and see. The brake line rubbed against the rim and burned through it. That rubber line is done. And of course everything is closed tomorrow.

the other side had been worn a bit but was still ok.

Why did this happen? i dunno. ive never had an issue, then it hit me how the caliper wasnt 100% like the originals. the way the line screws into the caliper was different then the stockers and caused the line to touch the rim. I didnt notice when i threw everything back on(never had this issue ever with multiple cars so it didnt even cross my mind)

thanks part source.

whats something quick/cheap that I can do? steel braided lines? from where?

thanks for any help

Maybe they gave you the wrong kind of caliper, fwd/awd are different.

Where are you located?

they asked if it was awd(computer asks) and i even saw him hit yes.

the caliper fits and works but little things seem diff. the parking cable mount was longer/diff so i reused the originals and then how the line comes off the caliper its different. not huge but enough to cause this issue.

im in the gta.
ill replace that rubber line ..but want to know if someone has already done the leg work and knows exactly what i can go out and get.

You saw him hit yes...did you also see the number that came up on the screen and compare that to the box he gave you?

I have braided stainless lines in stock, but I am in Niagara Falls. Complete set for all four wheels for 1g AWD is $79.99 plus shipping (if needed) plus taxes.

Is this for a 1G? Last time I tried getting rear calipers at Canadian Tire (Part Source, I believe, uses the same suppliers/warehouse) I was told that the AWD rears were discontinued. I ended up getting/adapting FWD calipers, and had to work around the same brake line issue you had.

I reworked the brackets that hold the lines to the rear struts until I had the clearance I needed.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

1g, yup. I did not compare the numbers on the computer to the box. didnt think i had to cry i havent had an issue like this yet in 10 yrs of buying stuff from them. (crappy/part source)

they never said anything to me about it being discontinued.

Anyone know of a steel braided kit in gta that i can quickly pick up?

if not , the Niagara falls one may be the best bet
thanks for the help so far.

Sure......but I THINK you'll find that even if they do have them, they will probably be a LOT more money....

Just let me know if you want them...

Ziggy informed me that he sent me some lines this morning!
Super amazing as I havent even paid him a dime yet. Really awesome and much appreciated.

Id just like to post some info as to make him feel a bit more comfortable as it will take me a few days to pay him. (I know I will not be able to edit this later on)

Some issues with my work screwing up their new cheques(which just happened) has caused me to be without some cash flow right now. I would use my cc but we had arranged for a diff method of payment.

I would just like to share this info with people to show I am not hiding or out to scam anyone. I just cant send the money until I get a new (proper) cheque from work. It really is a weird coincidence this happened all at the same time.

Ziggy took a big leap of faith sending me the lines as I have never met him and havent sent him any money yet.

I will send payment as soon as I can. (and for those wondering no i dont have any accessible reserves right now. I was just a student and have been heavily paying down my debt. typically for me in the last while is, cheque in/cheque out to knock down debt as quick as I can).

He also has my address so he could send a turbo army to my place to do some awd burnouts on my face if things didnt work out. lol(they WILL be worked out)

Thanks again Ziggy!
