True, I got nailed with a radar detector about 7 years ago. Blue unmarked Impala at the time, hunted me down on the 401. I got a speeding ticket over a year ago and had one of those 2 outlet inverters on my seat, and the cop asked what it was, so I showed him. Then he said the reason he asked was that he saw on my record I'd been caught with a radar detector and thought it looked similar.

However, since the Bel STi is undetectable... and if it's hidden... the only possible way I think they could suspect anything is if they hit the car with laser and jams.
Because let's face it. If I was a cop, and my laser gun jammed when pointing it at a lowered, loud red/black 2 door with a shiny radiator thing in front of it, I would pull it over and investigate.
Now the question is, how often is laser used? I doubt the police department here has very many. I know we only have 2 or so cruisers with on-car radars. OPP on the other hand, is a lot more common. That's actually how I got nailed with my speeding ticket, OPP cruiser driving in the opposite direction, and he had his on-car radar ready.

Yeah but Lucian you don't have to worry about that. The STi is a detector not a jammer, and is supposed to be able to detect a great amount of distance. Check the video for how the spectre works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAYmbd9bLoE&feature=player_embedded

I used my engine hoist and leveler last night since I was alone. It does takes longer since I have to pull it out and position it up and all. The good thing is you can get it perfectly straight and not hung up on anything at all, which is crucial when installing a twin disk. The last thing you want is the input shaft getting hung up on the disks, so you want to put the tranny on perfectly straight. Easily done with a hoist and leveller by yourself.
If I have a friend I get him to stand up top while I bench the tranny in from under the car: Lay next to trans, put trans on my chest with help from my friend, keep eyes on dowels, bench and slide tranny on while keeping eyes on the dowels. Keeping your eyes on the dowels while your underneath the car is key, it will line up and slide right on. Makes it a 30 second job. Works for me all the time.
I don't try to bench a tranny in the car with no one else around.

Bah!.... you guys are doing it wrong... You gotta hold onto the fender with one arm... then slowly drop the trans into place from the top with the other arm.... I call it the drop and slide... Works every time...

How much does that flywheel weigh??? The whole unit weighs 16lbs. That seems like the long way Mike K I've seen Helder bend over the fender, joint in one hand, grab the tranny with the other and slap it on. Beat that
