Ok, so I have both of these IC's. I was going to sell the Starion and use the Probe IC, but I want to know which one is better?

The 626 is 210 Cu./in. and the Starion is 346 cu./in.

The 626 looks like the inside of the air passage does not have fins, the Starion has something in there, but it does not look like fins? The Starion I have I think has 13 cooling rows?

Anyone have any experience with this?

And also, where do you go to get aluminum welded? LIke inlet/outlet pipes?

Hi Jay, I've seen the probe ones work well before.
You can get the aluminum welded at most fabrication places that do contract welding. There are several in scarboro, and Concord. They will tig it to the tune of 50-60 bucks an hour, so have everything cut precisely and flawlessly clean.

Sweet, thanks rob! smile

I went to Leitner and Bush on Friday, and they wanted 150$ to weld the pipes! eek I thought that was a little much! But then again, it is Leitner and Bush, so it will be better welding right?

If I use the Probe IC, then I don't need anything welded, an dI can sell the Starion.

Only thing is the Probe will be Front mounted but off to the drivers side.

Well, the 626 and starion IC have the same size inlet/outlets, right??

The 626 flows better than the starion, but the starion has more cooling surface.

I have one of each in two of my cars, I notice they both work well. It comes down to preference.

Although, if you have bigger pipes welded on the starquest IC, i would go that route.

That's what I needed to hear! Thanks!

I don't have the pipes welded on the Starion so it would cost me more money to do that. and I got the Mazda onr for 45$ (Lucked out at the Standard Auto this weekend since they had the 45$ all you can carry!) And I don't have to modify the Mazda one to use it!

Again, thanks!

now to sell the Starion! laugh

Jay...It does not mean better welding at L&B.
There are many people that can do this for you.
Email me(rsothmann@yahoo.com) and I will tell you a place in Scarb.(I just don't think he'd like to be swamped with cheap ass DSM guys..j/k)

Jay, the 626 IC is a good unit, but since you have the starquest, and if you are willing to spend about $100, go with the starquest. You can sell the 626 for about 75-80.

I pulled two from the same wreckers, paid $25 each. But seeing as the amount of time it takes to remove those IC, I wouldnt sell for less than 75.

Rob is correct, there are many shops out there that weld on a regular basis, and most likely charge less the L&B.

I would say to try a RAD shop, seeing as many of todays cars use aluminum rads, and many times they have to weld them up, they could more than likely weld up the IC for you. Of course time is money, and they should be paid accordingly!!
