I notice a drivetrain vibration from the passenger side of the car whenever I get to 3000rpm +/- 150rpm. This is felt in every gear, but only under load. It also goes away after passing this rpm point and then the car accelerates smoothly.
If I rev the car in nuetral there is no vibration.
Clutch going??
thanks,

Do you still have your balance shafts? If so, check the belt to make sure it hasn't snapped.

The fact that it only happens under load doesn't really lean towards this, but that IS the RPM you get vibration at when it happens, and it's easy to check.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Neither of you drive your car until you find the problem. If that belt is snapped, you WILL eventually catch the T-Belt.

No need to speak further on that one.

Ryan's right, check that belt know or start looking for a new engine. I shouldn't be saying this but mine broke off and I didn't notice until my headgasket was leaking but I got lucky the whole belt was still hanging there.

I'll take a look in the morning.
Would a broken balance shaft belt not cause a vibration through the entire rpm range, as well as at idle? Why would it be RPM specific?

A broken balance shaft belt dosen't even cause much vibration although some guys seem to think otherwise. I didn't even notice mine snapped. Just cut it off it's still on or eliminate it the right way with a BS eliminator kit.

Can't remember who it was but someone on here told me once that he's cut the balance shaft belt of every 4g63 he's owned, some say its a temporary fix and some guys have run months without a belt, myself for example when I bought this car the owner said he did the timing belt 7 months ago so it's possible that I was running without a belt for close to two years or maybe it snapped a week before the headgasket started leaking who knows. I suggest you buy the kit there only $20 on ebay.

problem found!
one of my downpipe bolts had come loose. so the flex section was rubbing up against the transfer case. New bolt and gasket on....vibration gone! rotate
